Abstract Submission Deadline Extended to August 15, 2026
The CU-KU International Symposium in Education is a distinguished collaboration between the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, and the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Following the success of the inaugural symposium hosted by Chulalongkorn University in 2025, the 2026 edition is proudly hosted by the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, continuing the spirit of academic partnership between these two leading institutions.
Themed "Beyond Boundaries: Transformative Education for Global Citizenship," this year's symposium responds to an era of unprecedented change. Rapid technological advancement, climate disruption, geopolitical shifts, and growing social inequalities are reshaping the world at a pace no single nation or institution can navigate alone. Education must rise to meet this reality — not merely transmitting knowledge, but equipping people with the capacity to think critically, adapt to uncertainty, and act responsibly in an increasingly interconnected world.
Global citizenship education is central to this challenge. The ability to engage across cultures, collaborate beyond borders, and take shared responsibility for global issues is no longer an aspiration — it is a fundamental competency for life in the 21st century. Education systems that embrace this transformation have the power to shape citizens who do not merely survive change, but help drive it toward more just and sustainable outcomes.
The symposium provides an international platform for educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to share innovative research, evidence-based practices, and cross-sector collaboration. Discussions will span curriculum and pedagogy, cross-cultural learning, sustainable development, digital citizenship, and policy reform — all with the goal of building a global community of practice committed to inclusive, equitable, and future-ready education.
Aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals — particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) — the symposium reaffirms the commitment of Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University to shaping the future of education, not only in Thailand but as active contributors to the global dialogue on transformative and sustainable education for all.
To unite educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across the globe in advancing transformative education — fostering the exchange of knowledge, innovative practices, and cross-sector collaboration that prepares learners to become active, responsible, and resilient global citizens in a rapidly changing world.
The theme of the CU-KU International Symposium 2026, "Beyond Boundaries: Transformative Education for Global Citizenship," reflects an urgent call to reimagine education in a world defined by rapid change, deepening interconnection, and complex global challenges. The symposium will bring together educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across the globe to explore how education can transcend geographic, cultural, and systemic boundaries — cultivating learners who are not only knowledgeable, but adaptable, empathetic, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to a shared global future.
Exploring pedagogical approaches and curriculum frameworks that foster global citizenship and well-being, with a focus on interdisciplinary integration of global citizenship competencies and the purposeful use of digital technology to expand learning beyond classroom boundaries.
Examining educational practices that promote cross-cultural understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation of diversity, including the development of intercultural communication competencies and the role of international academic exchange in building inclusive learning communities.
Investigating the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into curriculum and instruction, the development of environmental and social responsibility among learners, and the contributions of educational institutions to advancing sustainable development across local, national, and global contexts.
Addressing the development of media and information literacy in the digital era, the promotion of ethical, responsible, and safe technology use, and educational responses to the evolving challenges of living and learning in an increasingly digital society.
Analyzing educational policies and governance frameworks that support the development of global citizenship, the design of assessment systems aligned with 21st-century learning goals, and multi-sector partnerships between government, private organizations, and civil society in shaping equitable and forward-looking education reform.
