| Objective | This workshop aims to develop participants' competencies as global citizens for sustainability by strengthening intercultural understanding, critical awareness of global sustainability challenges, and the capacity to co-create actionable solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports faculty members, educators, and policy practitioners in integrating sustainability and global citizenship into higher education, school education, and community contexts. |
| Activity Summary |
This 1-hour interactive workshop engages 40 international participants through experiential and collaborative learning. It begins with identity mapping and intercultural dialogue to explore how personal and cultural perspectives shape understanding of sustainability issues. Participants then engage in intercultural simulations to navigate differences in values and approaches to sustainability across contexts. In the Global Sustainability Lab, participants analyze key global challenges (e.g., climate change, social inequality, inclusive education) by comparing global and local dimensions and identifying key stakeholders.
The workshop culminates in a co-creation session, where participants design a Global Citizenship for Sustainability Initiative (program, project, or policy idea) using a structured canvas that integrates SDGs, partnerships, and impact pathways. The session concludes with group presentations, peer feedback, and reflection on translating learning into sustainable action. |

| Objective | This workshop aims to introduce participants to the core principles of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and to explore how these principles can be reimagined in response to the ecological, ethical, and planetary challenges of the Anthropocene. It invites participants to critically examine human-centred assumptions in education and to consider how citizenship education can be expanded to include ecological interdependence, more-than-human relations, and responsibility for future generations. |
| Activity Summary |
This workshop begins by introducing the core principles of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and their relevance to contemporary social, environmental, and ethical issues. Building on this foundation, the workshop introduces the idea of education in the Anthropocene, with particular attention to how it challenges human-centred assumptions and expands the meaning of citizenship toward ecological interdependence, more-than-human relations, and responsibility for future generations.
Participants will engage in interactive activities designed to explore the relationships among human actors, non-human actors, local problems, and global systems. The workshop concludes with a reflective debriefing that connects the activity experience to the rethinking of Global Citizenship Education in the Anthropocene era. |
